Getting First Downs…
Kansas has recorded 48 first downs through the first two games. The individual leader for producing first downs has been WR Kerry Meier. Of his 18 catches this season, 13 have been for first downs. He also leads the team with five first downs produced on third down (also has one on fourth down). Other top individuals who have moved the chains include RB Angus Quigley, WR Daymond Patterson and WR Dezmon Briscoe, who all have six first downs to their credit. Patterson has four catches that have been for first downs on third-down plays.

Miscellaneous NCAA Rankings…
After two weeks Kansas ranks first in the NCAA in pass efficiency defense (51.84), tied for first in red zone defense (0.00 percent as opponent is 0-of-4), fifth in time of possession (36:33) and tied for sixth in first down defense (10.50).
Reesing’s Rankings…
While he does not receive the attention a lot of Big 12 quarterbacks receive, the junior has been as good this year as he was last season, when he earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors in leading Kansas to the FedEx Orange Bowl and a 12-1 record. Receiving Trio...
The trio of Kerry Meier, Dezmon Briscoe and Daymond Patterson has been extremely productive in the first two games. Meier ranks third in the NCAA in receptions per game (9.00), Briscoe 10th (8.00) and Patterson 60th (5.50). That makes Kansas one of two schools to have two players in the top 10 (Oregon State) in receptions per game and one of three with three in the top 60 nationally (BYU - 4 and Texas Tech - 3).

Looking For 3-0 Start...
Kansas will be looking to start a season 3-0 for the second straight year, as well as the third time in the Mark Mangino era (started 2005 3-0 before losing in the fourth game). While it would be the third time a Mangino-coached Jayhawk team started out 3-0, that feat has been rare at Kansas. In fact since 1976’s 4-0 start, the Jayhawks have been 3-0 in 1981 (4-0), 1985, 1991, 1992, 1995 (7-0), 1997, 2005, 2007 (11-0).

KU Notable...
Kansas is playing in the Eastern time zone for just the fourth time in the last eight years and all of those trips have come in the Mark Mangino era (vs. North Carolina State in 2003 Tangerine Bowl in Orlando, at Toledo in 2006, vs. Virginia Tech in 2008 FedEx Orange Bowl and this week at South Florida)... Kansas is 3-1 all-time in games played on Sept. 12.
